Happy Mother's Day!
I am so excited for today. We are spending the day with my Mom and then Clay's Mammaw. We are planting flowers at my Mammaw's grave, today. It is in Newark by Ye Old Mill.
My Mammaw has been gone for over 20 years and I still miss her. She was my buddy and I love her unconditionally. She did not have an easy life. She was one of thirteen children being raised on a rural tobacco farm in Southern Ohio. She desperately wanted a better life and credits my Pappaw for finding her. He worked at a local hotel and was shy as they come. Not my Mammaw June - she was outgoing and funny and had the cutest smile you have ever seen! I get my sass, work ethic, energy, unconditional love, strength and humor from my Mammaw. She was stand-up comedian funny. As I plant flowers at her grave, I will remember her impact on me and so many others. She was the real deal.
After visiting Newark, we are headed for a nice meal. Not quite sure where? We shall see where the wind blows.
I am thankful that my Mom is alive. She has been in the ICU and on life support 4 or is it 5 times. Pretty sad when it become so often that you forget the number? God has a plan for my Mom. If he did not, she would not be here. All I know is that I am happy that she is here and we are mending our relationship. She has always been my idol. She always will be.
I often reflect on her trials and tribulations. Can you imagine her life? Stay at home Mom, 3 kids, your husband leaves you and announces to the world that he is coming out? Me neither. While she did not handle things perfectly, she dug her heals in, put her head down, provided, never missed a school function/sporting event and pushed us towards greatness. She made us the center of her life and being. I am thankful for her sacrifice and know that I get my intelligence, leadership, way with people, energy and SPUNK from my Mom.
Thank you to the powerful women that have made me who I am. I will strive to live up to your legacy. I love you, Kritter Bear
